To get a retirement visa, the process is relatively simple. Once you have obtained your Retirement Visa, there are a multiple benefits, which include:

As of 22nd of August 2023, Indonesian Ministry of Immigration released a new regulation that allows expatriates seeking to retire in Indonesia to be able to extend their stay for up to 5 years. The new regulation requires expatriates with age above 60 years old who are able to provide a statement of their minimum monthly pension fund of USD 3,000 can apply for the five-year scheme of Retirement KITAS.
Requirements to apply for the new 5-year Retirement KITAS:
- Retirees can reside in Indonesia for a period of 5 (five) years using the Retirement KITAS.
- Retirees are not required to have a sponsor to apply for the five-year Retirement KITAS, though sponsorship is still necessary for the one-year Retirement KITAS.
- Retirees can still apply for the one-year Retirement KITAS if they choose to.
- Retirees must be above 60 years of age to be eligible for applying for the five-year Retirement KITAS.
- Retirees must comply with the statement of commitment to save funds in an account in their own name at a state-owned bank worth at least US$50,000 (fifty thousand US dollars) or the equivalent which must be fulfilled within a maximum period of 90 (ninety) Days from the date the Limited Stay Permit is granted.
- Can provide proof of pension fund minimum of USD 3,000 per month or USD 36,000/year.
Requirement Updates to apply for the new 1-year Retirement KITAS:
- Retirees can reside in Indonesia for a period of one year using the Retirement KITAS.
- Retirees must engage with a sponsor that acts as their guarantor during their stay in Indonesia.
- Retirees must be above 60 years of age to be eligible for applying for the one-year Retirement KITAS.
- Can provide proof of pension fund minimum of USD 3,000 per month or USD 36,000/year.
- What Requirements Do I Need, In Order For Me To Obtain A Retirement KITAS?
Aside from the age prerequisites, an applicant for a Retirement Visa will also need to:
- Have no plans to work in indonesia.
- Hire a maid or domestic helper.
- Sign a lease agreement for 1 year.
- A Currently, most countries are entitled to apply for a retirement visa with the exception of Afghanistan, Guinea, Israel, North Korea,Cameroon, Liberia, Niger, Nigeria and Somalia.
Steps To Get Your Retirement KITAS
- Provide all documentation relevant to the KITAS and we will verify to ensure a successful application.
- All documentation will be uploaded to the online immigration system. Once the visa is authorized the applicant will receive an E-Visa (Electronic Visa), which they will need to print.
- The applicant may now enter Indonesia using the E-Visa.
- Upon arrival to Indonesia, the applicant will need to do a biometric, whereby they take a profile photo, as well as provide fingerprints.
- The KITAS (Stay Permit) will be issued and given to the applicant within 3 Days.
- Within 14 Days of the KITAS issuance, you must register at the civil departments, whereby you will obtain your SKSKPS (Certificate of Family Formation of Temporary Residents) & STM (Police Certificate).
